Defence and aerospace hiring for hardware and systems leaders

Adviti Consulting Private Limited searches for hardware, systems, programme management, and business development leaders for defence and aerospace companies hiring in India. The work belongs with the firm's practice in deep tech, advanced materials, and Industry 4.0. Searches are run from Bengaluru and Coimbatore.

This hiring fails when it is treated like a software requisition. The person who can lead a hardware programme has usually spent years inside a prime, a laboratory, an OEM, or a supplier. They are not answering job posts. The brief has to respect what they are allowed to say about past work, and the process has to tolerate references that cannot be written down in full.

Who it is for

Use this search if you are building or scaling a defence, aerospace, or dual use hardware company in India and the open seat is a leader, not a bulk requisition. That includes an Indian firm, a European defence electronics company building a team in India, or a manufacturer that needs someone who has taken a system from design into production.

The person who instructs us is a founder, a chief executive, a programme director, or a business head. We need that person in the first conversation. A brief that has been softened until the real constraint has disappeared is not a brief we can search against.

Roles we handle

Hardware leadership covers heads of electronics hardware, mechanical design, avionics, sensors, power, and the manufacturing engineering that sits next to design. The common thread is ownership of a physical system, not ownership of a document set.

Systems leadership covers systems engineers and heads of systems who can hold interfaces, requirements, and verification across disciplines. We look for people who have closed a design, not only people who have attended reviews.

Programme management covers programme managers and heads of programmes who have run a hardware schedule, a supplier set, and a customer milestone at the same time. This is not a general operations role. The brief says which programme logic the person must already know.

Business development covers capture leaders who can hold a technical conversation with a customer and a commercial conversation with their own board. Some briefs ask for leaders moving from the armed forces into industry. Tell us if that background is a requirement. We will search for it. We will not treat it as a slogan.

How a search runs

We start from the system, not from a job title. What is being built, which subsystem the leader owns, what counts as finished, and which customer or internal milestone the hire is meant to serve. The brief records what the person must have done with their own team, and what can be learned after they join.

The market map covers primes, suppliers, public research organisations, private aerospace and defence firms, and adjacent industries only where the brief allows it. A specialist from one domain is not automatically a lead in another. The search runs in the city where the role sits, which for aerospace engineering on this site includes Bengaluru and Hyderabad.

Outreach is one conversation at a time. We do not post the role. Where current work is sensitive, the first conversation is about fit and constraints, not about a history the person should not share. You run the technical assessment. We prepare both sides for it, and we stay through offer and notice, including location, travel, and what the person may tell a current employer.

What you get in week 1

Week 1 is the brief and the plan, not a stack of CVs. If the brief still mixes a hardware lead with a business development lead, the week is used to split them or to drop one.

  • A written brief that names the system, the subsystem or function, the reporting line, the location, and the experience that is essential, plus what we will not ask a candidate to disclose.
  • A first market map of the organisations and functions where this leader is likely to be now, and whether an adjacent industry is in scope.
  • An outreach plan that states what can be said in the first message. If the company cannot be named, the plan says what can be named instead.
  • A working rhythm: who from your side joins the first review once a person is ready to meet.

FAQ

Who is this for?

Companies hiring hardware, systems, programme management, or business development leaders in defence and aerospace in India. Founders and programme leaders are the usual clients.

Do you search for business development as well as engineering?

Yes. Business development is its own brief. It can include leaders moving from the armed forces into industry when you tell us that background is required.

Will the role be advertised?

No. These searches are confidential and are not posted on www.adviti.net or on a job board.

What arrives in week 1?

The brief, a first market map, an outreach plan, and the working rhythm. Not a finished shortlist.
